Throughout the world there is a growing understanding that inclusive art has a lot to give to our understanding of the world we are living in. Inclusive art is about facilitating and empowering the development of our consciousness – artists from non-conventional backgrounds again and again show us new ways of understanding how we perceive the world and/or people around us.
To recognise that artists, regardless of academic training, physical, social, emotional and/or cognitive ability gives us the possibility of seeing and understanding the world around us even more nuanced and refined.
To recognise that we all experience the world around us differently means that as inclusive practitioners, teachers and facilitators we can empower development of new and innovative ways of engaging with imagination, thoughts, feelings and perceptions of the world.
The AliusArt blog aims to become a place for sharing practical therapeutic and pedagogical approaches, models and attitudes for practitioners working with inclusive practice in the visual and expressive arts – this hopefully not only to facilitate ongoing development for people engaged in any of the inclusive arts but also to facilitate self-managed Personal & Professional Development for the practitioner.
